Meet the family behind the boat

We are Eric, Alex, Leon, and Margot — a family of four based in Madison, Wisconsin. This is our second Caribbean cruise. The first was ten months aboard a monohull we called Nethermead, from Miami to Grenada and back in 2021–2022. The kids were small, we had a great time, and when we came home we knew we wanted to do it again. For the second trip we wanted more space, more comfort, and a little more safety for the kids, so we sold Nethermead ourselves and bought Tropicalia.

Eric earned a USCG 100-ton Master captain’s license and has crossed the Atlantic twice. Alex had never sailed before she met him. Leon is nine. Margot is six.

We sold Nethermead FSBO and it was straightforward. We’re doing the same here — we have lived aboard, maintained every system, and are happy to walk you through anything and put you in touch with the people we’ve worked with on the upgrades.
